Cherie found out about Friends in Deed in April when she got out of prison. When she was released, she was able to find a job; but she wasn’t able to afford the shoes she needed to work there. Thankfully, Catholic Social Services was able to put her in touch with Friends In Deed, and we were able to provide her the $28 she needed to buy work shoes and get hired for her new job.
A Little Help Goes a Long Way
As of June, Cherie is still working at the same company — the $28 she received for work shoes was all she needed to be able to get and maintain a steady job to get back up on her feet. She’s now living in an apartment with her roommate and has reliable transportation.
