Afua with kids

Afua with kids in front of the Chevy TrailBlazer they received through Friends In Deed

My name is Afua, and I’m a single mom of four with two minor kids at home with me. I work in Accounting; however, I lost my job of six years in December and my unemployment benefits ended in May. I was blessed with a job in June actually directly across the street from my old job.

I knew my car needed repairs; but by this time, my kids and I also needed to find a new place to [live]… so I knew I had no extra cash for car repairs.

While still unemployed, I contacted Friends In Deed (“FID”) about the car repair program…Charlene at FID told me the mechanic said my car was a danger to drive and required at a minimum $1900 in repair costs…That afternoon, when I went to collect my car, my legs felt weak at the thought of having no transportation.

The next morning Charlene called me and stated she had…a 2003 Chevy TrailBlazer for me. I just cried in the middle of the office at work. I was so caught off guard and grateful FID helped me, so I didn’t risk my life or anyone else’s life while driving. All I can say is Thank You Friends in Deed! for helping me and children!
