Sue (pictured on the left) is a retiree who was looking to give back make a difference in her community. Attracted to the idea of working one on one with someone and doing something hands on, she applied to the Circles program as an Ally for the first cohort. She described her position of an Ally as a researcher of resources and an active listener.
When asked about her favorite part of the program, she said she loved everything about it. That this is the type of work that you know makes a difference. Circles helps a person, a Leader, move out of poverty. Then, that person can teach their children to move out of poverty, their friends, and so on. It has a sort of rippling effect that “is good if you’re looking to make a difference”.
